Path2Awesome

For my Social Leadership class we get the opportunity to do a service project.........Deciding is so hard. I've had so many ideas, I didn't want to do what most people were doing, I wanted to be different and unique. I wanted to do something to change the world.......and that's hard (especially with only half the semester left). I was stumped.

I said in an earlier post, we read the book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller and it inspired me. A whole lot. And from then on I'd been conspiring on how exactly to live a better story. Other than just doing it. That was too simple. I don't do simple.

I confess, I do so much better when taking on a challenge like living a better story when someone is doing it with me and I have a motivation to go on. So, I had this idea boiling in my mind.....what if......I started a challenge, where we could encourage anyone and everyone that wanted to join, to live better stories and  and they could share their stories and we could inspire each other.

I had to share my idea. So in class one day, I blurted out in the chat box to my friend  that I had a brilliant idea to share with her. She was the perfect person to share it with. And crazy thing, she had been having the same ideas! We then put our heads together and it started to grow! We came up with a name, inspiration and all that stuff.....and then..........she had this idea.....that maybe we could turn this challenge into our Social Leadership project! Best. Idea. Ever.

We got it approved....and here it is! Path2Awesome

Wake up and see the beauty

It's midterms week. I've procrastinated, cried, freaked out a little, and aced my oral midterms. And surprisingly enough, I'm more happy than words can describe. :)

I think in order to understand my happiness.....I should describe my inspiration.

For my Social Leadership class for school we read the book A Million Miles in Thousand Years by Donald Miller. The book is all about living a good story; and by good story I mean, living a good, meaningful, purposeful, amazing, adventurous life. You get the idea. Donald Miller was from (what I've gathered) a lazy person who wrote books and watched LOTS movies and TV. Things happened and he realized he wasn't living a good story. So he started to turn his life around and live a good story! It inspired me. A whole lot.

I kept thinking and telling myself how boring my life was. I was so upset with myself. I could have kicked a wall. I woke up, sat at my computer doing school, watched people live their dreams and have adventures, planned epic adventures of my own (not so boring) and that's it. How utterly boring. My life was wasting away! All my life and most double digit birthdays, I would cry to myself and complain to others about how old I was getting and that I would never be able to do the things I wanted to do so badly. That I was going to grow up and became a worthless overwhelmed fat mom who was NOT living her dreams. <------worst nightmare right there.

You see, I have this thing going on in my head, that if I'm not doing something like running a mile everyday, getting ALL my homework done (which is hard for a burger I think), running around like a crazy monkey, changing someones life, going on an amazing adventure every week then I'm a failure. Nothing is good enough. I set my expectations too high.

Because, I have this beast inside me. A chained beast. That craves adventure more than anything. And I want so badly, more than anything to feed that beast in me and let it free. It hurts me to not be able to unleash it and let it free.

But then, earlier this week I chatted my good friend complaining about how short life was, and how I would never be able to do all the things I so badly want to do and how I was a failure and such fluff. My friend responded with this, "Put on some adventure music, remember life is beautiful, we just forget to open our eyes and see it."

And then it hit me like a freight train. The answer to my problems was right there! Right in front of my very confused face. And that realization was that life it's self is the greatest adventure I could ever experience. Life is more beautiful than our human minds can comprehend and beauty is everywhere! Adventure is everywhere. Everyday is an adventure. All we have to do is open our eyes and see it. :)

(I'm not going to fit all this into one post, stay tuned for part two) So join me on my adventure to live in the moment, to see the beauty in everything, and live a great adventure (more epicality to come, just wait, it'll blow your mind), and to enjoy life even more than I already do, because life is truly beautiful and all we need to do is open our eyes and see it. :)

Always remember LIFE IS GOOD.

Today I ran like I was being chased by aborigines, zombies, and monsters (yes all of them), ran around barefoot in the snow, aced my midterms, laughed with the best people in the world, played on the swing set soaking in the winter sun and smiled a whole lot. Life is good and I love it. Even though it sure has it's bumps in the road, it's great no matter what. That is all. I am now going to go dance to my adventure music. (<----Listen to it!)

"This is life, people! You've got air comin' through your nose!"

Time flies by so fast, I can't believe that it's the second month of the New Year already! Crazy stuff. As I was looking back on January 2013, and this past week, I came to the conclusion, that life is all about the little things. I may not have run a marathon, or went on a trip to the Bahamas, but honestly it has been great! Combine all the little things that happen, and it makes for a great life. :) So, just because, here are some things from the past month that I have loved. :)

ONE

This is no doubt my number one. I love this :) 'Nough said. But seriously, "This is life, people! You've got air coming through your nose! A heart beating! That means it's time to do somethin'!" This kid knows what's going on.

TWO

So....this is beautiful. End of story. This is a valley, completely covered in clouds. As I left the valley, I had this amazing view, these were taken out of the car window, and they just don't do justice to it, but it.was.amazing.

THREE

Okay, so now let's talk blog. For forever I have searched and searched everywhere across the vast cyber space (Ok, I might be exaggerating a bit) for the perfect look, the perfect free program, but sadly there wasn't. But then I realized, that I had the perfect program for me all along...and it is this, blogger. For my blonde brain I needed something easy, and this was just what I needed :) So I whipped this up, and at first it was just until I could figure out something better, but I loved it :) It's just me, and I love it. It may not be all tricked out and what-not. But for now, it's perfect to me. :)

FOUR

Yes. Just yes.

My blooming cacti. *grins* At the beginning of the year my little cacti (like they could fit in the palm of my hand) bloom, flower, whatever, and it makes me so happy to see their little blossoms every time I open my window. The top cactus's flowers don't get any bigger than that, but for the one above, the flowers get so big and beautiful. :) It's amazing how something so little can be so beautiful. :)

There is much more, but I think I might bore ya if I told it all. So, what little things made your month great? Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend! :)
